When you are done your writing for the day, stop. Don’t carry your computer or notepad around with the hope that you will be blessed with that wonderful idea.
If you do have an idea, acknowledge it, and then let it go. Fear makes us believe that we’ll lose it but if it was as awesome as we thought it was, it will come back and usually it will bring a couple of friends with it. And if it doesn’t, well then, maybe it wasn’t that perfect to begin with.
In our desire to be writers, we often forget that it is not all who we are.
Do your work and when you’re done, put it away and enjoy the rest of your day.
